Add On Services

 A profitable additional service is an automatic transmission fluid change. Many manufacturers DO NOT recommend changing the transmission filter every fluid change. We have provided a list on page 16. Your EVAC 7000 machine can accomplish the with the same procedures and efficiency as an engine oil change. Care must be exercised to service only transmissions which are in good working order showing no signs of abuse or excessive wear, i.e. extremely dirty (brown) or burned smell. Some of the new automatic transmission fluids such as Dexron IIE are very high in detergents. These fluids can discolor very quickly. Therefore, it's always best to sell transmission services not on color or smell, but the manufacturers' recommended service intervals. For proper service intervals, consult your owner/service manual.

 The procedures for servicing automatic transmissions are very similar to evacuating engine oil. First, check the fluid level in the prescribed manner (engine running), make a note of the level. Its a good idea to document on your work order if ANY fluid is low. Next, with the engine off, select a "C" wand and insert it into the transmission dipstick tube. In most cases it's unnecessary to measure the wand against the dipstick. When the evacuation begins, you will see fluid in the sight glass and vacuum on the gauge. When bubbles appear in the sight glass and the vacuum falls, gently move the wand in further until no more fluid can be removed. The level indicator lights on the control panel will accurately reflect the amount of ATF removed. Replace with a like amount of clean transmission fluid and start the vehicle. With your foot on the brake, shift the transmission through every position. Stop in each gear for at least 10 seconds. When completed, put the transmission into park and carefully recheck the transmission fluid level. The automatic transmission service is complete.
